چکیده

The mathematical analysis of random phylogenetic networks via analytic and algorithmic methods has received increasing attention in the past years. In present work we introduce branching process to their study. This approach appears be new this context. Our main results focus on level-k with n labeled leaves. Although number reticulation vertices such is typically linear n, prove that asymptotic global local shape tree-like a well-defined sense. We show depth large network converges towards Brownian excursion after rescaling by . also establish Benjamini–Schramm convergence novel infinite network.

Branching Process Approach to Avalanche Dynamics on Complex Networks

We investigate the avalanche dynamics of the Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld (BTW) sandpile model on complex networks with general degree distributions. With the threshold height of each node given as its degree in the model, self-organized criticality emerges such that the avalanche size and the duration distribution follow power laws with exponents τ and δ, respectively. Applying the theory of the multip...

Branching process approach for Boolean bipartite networks of metabolic reactions.

The branching process (BP) approach has been successful in explaining the avalanche dynamics in complex networks. However, its applications are mainly focused on unipartite networks, in which all nodes are of the same type. Here, motivated by a need to understand avalanche dynamics in metabolic networks, we extend the BP approach to a particular bipartite network composed of Boolean AND and OR ...

Branching Process approach for 2-SAT thresholds

It is well known that, as n tends to infinity, the probability of satisfiability for a random 2-SAT formula on n variables, where each clause occurs independently with probability α/2n, exhibits a sharp threshold at α = 1. We provide a simple conceptual proof of this fact based on branching process arguments. We also study a generalized 2-SAT model in which each clause occurs independently but ...

A Local Branching Approach for the Set Covering Problem

The set covering problem (SCP) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem. This paper investigates development of a local branching approach for the SCP. This solution strategy is exact in nature, though it is designed to improve the heuristic behavior of the mixed integer programming solver. The algorithm parameters are tuned by design of experiments approach. The proposed method is te...
